Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner in Burnet
For the 8th consecutive year, Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet will be hosting a free traditional Thanksgiving Day dinner from 11:00 to 2:00 in the REC building, which is located at the back of the church property at 507 Buchanan Drive (Highway 29 west) in Burnet. This year, we will prepare enough food for about 600 people. Along with turkey and cornbread dressing, we will also peel about 150 pounds of potatoes and I'll get up Thanksgiving morning and start making the bread dough for about 700-800 rolls. We'll also have sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit salad, cranberry sauce, and assorted desserts. We also deliver to the Meals on Wheels clients who don't have plans to go somewhere else, and to any other homebound person in the Burnet area who will be at home. If one of your listeners in the Burnet area would like a meal delivered, they should call William DeLeon at (512) 756-7176.
