Johnson City gets a New Library....

Saturday, November 8, you are invited to be a part of Johnson City history. Our new library's doors will be open to welcome you in. Let's give it the housewarming it deserves!

What can you do? Bring yourself and your moving dollie. You don't have to be in shape and you don't have to stay all day. Everyone will have a part. Starting at 9am, we will be moving all of the literary masterpieces and other contents from the old library to our new library. This move will take place rain or shine.

The day will not be all work.

- Work will pause at noon. Bring your lunch to participate in our new library's "first" Brown Bag Lunch. While you relax, The Hill Country Community Community Band will perform a lively concert from 12 to 1. Tunes will include Sousa Marches and Show Tunes. After lunch, back to the stacks for some while others will be moving down the street to support the Johnson City Elementary School Carnival (from 3 to 6).

At 5:00 everyone will be treated to hot dogs cooked by the Lions Club and chili made by our own "Chili Cook-Off Champion", Alan Dean. All the fixings, drinks and chips will be generously donated by HEB

At dark, get out your lawn chairs to view the first Johnson City "Movie Under the Stars" right in front of the library. The movie is courtesy of the National Park Service. The Johnson City Chamber and Library Dreamers will provide popcorn and candy.

Help make the dream come true "right here in River City". Karen Weber
