Let ART Hit The Streets!

Downtown Marble Falls will soon be getting a fresh look! Uptown Marble Arts Alliance and Historic Main Street Association have teamed up again to produce the 2nd annual Sculpture on Main event. The event is growing, with more than forty life-size and larger sculptures from local and international sculptors that will make their home in the downtown Marble Falls area for the next year, for locals and visitors to enjoy and purchase. The event is a year long, large-scale sculpture exhibit, promoting tourism and art education by bringing people to the Main Street downtown area.

Sculptures range from western to figurative, realism to abstract, and are constructed of bronze, steel and stone. The exhibit offers something of interest for all artistic tastes. Exhibited sculptures are for sale, and part of the proceeds are tax deductable and will flow back into the project to help keep it alive! Sculpture on Main maps can be picked up at shops and restaurants along Main Street and other local businesses.

The celebration welcoming the artists and sculptures will take place Friday October 24th and Saturday October 25th. The Installation of sculptures will take place on Friday during the day and an informal artist preview party, open to the public will take place at the Main Street tent Friday evening at 6:00 P.M. The festivities will continue at Uptown Marble Theater with the Marshall Ford Swing Band at 8:00pm. Uptown Marble Theatre, a beautifully restored movie theater now serves as the town’s cultural center. Saturday’s activities begin with Public Art Day at 11:00am which includes a poetry contest and reading, painting instruction, live music and dance performances and more! An Artists Reception, featuring a Food & Wine Tasting with delicious samplings from top-rated local restaurants and Texas Hill Country Wineries will take place under the tent at the corner of Third and Main streets beginning at 5:00pm. Tickets for this event are available for $30. An 8:00pm concert at Uptown Theater featuring the Homemade Jamz Band concludes the Sculpture on Main celebration. Tickets for the concert are $20.
